Wing Objectives:

To inspire media personnel to take up the challenge of promoting positivity in an industry which perpetuates negativity.

To encourage media responsibility in promoting religious harmony, national solidarity and national character and in protecting the interests of the weak, victimised and voiceless millions.

To discourage media malpractice in the form of misreporting, slandering, giving undue attention to violence, obscenity and vulgarity.

Views and Perspectives:

Media is a powerful tool for influencing the minds and emotions of vast numbers of people. Yet today’s media operates seemingly without conscience. In the name of ‘freedom of the press’ modern media has divested itself of any responsibility for the impact of the information and images which it daily dispenses. Driven by relentless production deadlines, competitive reporting and sales-oriented economics, many media establishments resort to various degrees from blatant to subtle of biased news- casting, invasion of privacy, gossip, and sensationalism.

A spiritually empowered media is free from subjectivity, prejudice and partisan bias. It begins its coverage by keeping the end in mind the end being the harmony, well-being and solidarity of all the world’s citizens. Of course constructive criticism and conscientious objection are essential guards of human rights and welfare, but media that is heedless of the shadows which it casts in the minds and hearts of the young and innocent and which propagates the seeds of divisiveness and doubt in the garden of a gullible public, is a media turned traitor to the well-being of society.

A spiritually empowered media is objective, constructive and educational. It highlights the positive qualities of leaders rather than casting them in a dubious light. It builds good will, encourages co-operation between diverse groups of people and offers scenarios of a positive and meaningful future.

Promoting BK Activities

In addition to bringing the message and methods of spiritual empowerment to media personnel and agencies at all levels, the Media Wing ensures appropriate coverage of the Vishwa Vidyalaya’s many activities/events.
